CHAPTER II: CHEMICAL HAZARD COMMUNICATION PROGRAM

Introduction

The Hutchinson Center is committed to the prevention of chemical exposures that may result in injury or illness. This chapter and its contents must be followed by all non-lab departments that use or handle hazardous materials (e.g., Facilities Engineering, janitorial staff, Glassware, Animal Health, etc.). The safe use of chemicals in laboratories is covered in Chapter III. This chapter fulfills the requirements for written information under the Washington State Hazard Communication Standard (WAC 296-800-170 Employer Chemical Hazard Communication). The intent of this chapter is to inform employees of the physical and health hazards of chemicals that they use in the workplace.
