Q. How many members can a team have?
Work teams can have between 3 to 8 members, a majority of whom must be either Center or SCCA employees. Home teams do not have a team size limit as long as all the members share the same residence
How are scores reported now that teams can vary in size?
The score you report is the average for your team: sum of all individual points divided by the number of team members.
What's to keep teams from not reporting scores for "underperforming" members?
At registration, your team must declare the number of members. This number is to be used when averaging the weekly scores regardless of how many members actually submitted scores. In the event that a member leaves employment, a substitution will be allowed as long as Healthy Challenge is informed of the change.
Q. If I attend all 10 events during the challenge, do I get 20 points?
No. We encourage you to attend as many events as you can, however, we recognize this is not always practical. Therefore, we set it up so you only need to attend 5 events to get the maximum 10 points for this category.
Q. Do I have to attend a minimum of 5 events to get points?
No. You get points for every event you attend, up to a maximum of 10.
Q. I don't remember, but do families get points for sharing challenge information?
Yes. Each home team member can claim points if they "participate" in a Challenge Event. This could mean reading/discussing a handout from a seminar attended by the employee member or performing a task such as checking their blood pressure. Instructions for home teams will be provided each time a Challenge Event is announced.
Q. When do I report my Challenge Events points?
You will report Challenge Event scores on week 12. We will provide a form for you to track events you've attended during the next 12 weeks.
Q. How can home teams participate in Challenge Events?
While all team members are welcome to participate in the offered Challenge Events, in most cases this will not be practical. Therefore, home teams may have their employee member attend the events and share/discuss the event information with teammates.
Q. When is a substitution allowed?
Very rarely, however, if you are physically precluded from participating in an activity such as taking the stairs, you may request to substitute an activity of equal (or greater) health benefit. To request a substitution, you must e-mail healthychallenge@fhcrc.org and list the activity you are proposing to forego and the proposed substitute.
Q. What are our options if a member leaves employment?
If a team member leaves employment, they may continue to participate in the Challenge as long as they are able to attend Challenge Events and report weekly scores. Alternatively, the team may get a replacement member as long as Healthy Challenge is informed of the change.
